This Term so far… and the last three weeks…

Right, I can’t remember what my last post was about, but I do remember telling you all that I would be updating my blog more often… However, this hasn’t been the case… My excuses being, Lupus has been rearing it’s ugly head yet again! Along with it’s partner in crime Rheumatoid Arthritis! I’m pretty sure I mentioned this in the last post, I’ve been so ill since September again, I’ve hardly managed to do anything again! It’s been so frustrating, I didn’t make much of the first term (September to December). When January came I refused to miss anymore, so me, being as silly as I am, decided to try and drive from Merthyr to Carmarthen on my own… As my lunch break approached I realised that I had no chance in getting myself home! So what do you do when you’re in a sticky situation… Yell MAMMY!!!!… Ended up having my dad come down and drive my car back… For weeks after that I had to have lift after lift so I could get to Carmarthen, only two weeks in and I concluded that I had enough and managed to get a last minute appointment with the Rheumatologist! Wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but I got there \^_^/ ‘triumph dance’!!! As soon as I told him how bad things were, ha made to adjustments and additions to my meds, four days later (when I actually got the new stuff) I began the new meds and in the morning, there was an instant difference! I couldn’t get over it! I still can’t even now, and that’s about 6-7 weeks ago now! I’m still feeling great (minus a few niggles in the hands, feet and hip, but the hips another story..) so after all that suffering it was just the need of one new thing, why didn’t the just do that in the first place! Oh well must not dwell on those things, either way I feel GREAT!!!!!!!!! Even been getting myself to uni for the past 4/5 weeks =] and I’ve managed a 13 mile bike ride which I did not think I’d be able to do and I’ve taken Stormie out!

But that’s enough of that now, think I rambled a bit too much on that as it is! Now for the degree work thus far! =]

This terms module, Cinematics! Sounds fun yeh? Well, it is! I’m more or less half way through it now and it’s great! Really enjoying it, it is a challenge, I’ll tell you that, regardless I’m enjoying it!

So the project is split in two part, the first part, you have to pick a film you like and chose three stills from that one film, that show the narrative of the film, I would say quite clearly so that you can figure out what on earth is going on in that shot, a good ambiance so that you can get an understanding of the mood, atmosphere and general feel, and then the aesthetics, so that the image flows as well as a film.

My film choice was, The Call.

I thought it was a great film, which led me to think it’ll be a good candidate for my cinematics module. So watching the film, which probably took me 2 hours more than what it should have to actually watch it, I screen shot every scene I though was interesting and managed to narrow it down to my final three and with those I got my images too. =]

Just for you to have a peek and possibly give some feedback on, here they are.

Still from the film.

Through the series I have experimented with different lighting techniques and methods, in order to achieve my outcomes.

I know that little bit by there is a little vague, but I have moved on from it now, and I am focusing on my next project, which I think I might just keep under wraps until it’s finished… Hmm yeh, I think I’ll do that for now, so I’m going to leave this as it is and get back to sorting my story board out =].

Toodles!

Woohoo

Well the exhibition was a success, was a great turnout despite a few technical difficulties… Trust the gallery to have a power cut on the morning of the opening, just our luck… However Lynne got the electricians out and managed to get most, of the  lights back on, with the exception of about 6 (I do believe) although thats not really all that important. We all managed to get through it, YES!!!!!!!!! Congrats to us all =D

Heres a few shots of what the ‘stairs’ looked like, with a few of us in there too =].

Well that was last Saturday.

Now today I’ve actually managed to finish editing the images for the Creative Design Skills!!!!! Woop woop, just the writing, analysing and annotating to do… Oh the joys that this task brings, hopefully it won’t take me too long to do =]

Heres a little sneak peak.DSC_0459-Edit-3 DSC_0429-Edit With Text

Well that two out of six, might give me something to blog later on in the month XD.

Chow for now.

Feeling the wear and tear…

Well again I’ve over done it… Can’t seem to get the hang of slowing down…. However with all the work building up and the deadlines getting closer I think I need to carry on, then rest up and recharge my ‘spoons’ (for you who don’t understand that term take a look at http://www.butyoudontlooksick.com/wpress/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/ it’s in relation to the illness Lupus that I was blabbering on about in my previous post) so if you ever hear me going off about my spoons that’s what it  is about (to think I’ve actually been a bit apprehensive about mentioning all this on here but I’m not too shy about it now =].

Well over the last day or so we’ve had a tad bit more snow…. Oh the joy, makes everything more difficult with getting on with these projects, even though I did manage to get out and take some photos in the snow and managed to get this lovey picture of Storm(my dog).

An Interesting Day(This is a few days late) 20/03/2013

Well its’ been a busy but interesting day, I attended my first Lupus coffee morning
Cardiff Coffee (and Cake) Meeting which was a great experience on my behalf, basically it was a chance for the group of us to have a good rant/moan/groan about how we feel about things, helped vent a lot out, also I have the South Wales Lupus Group Annual General Meeting http://www.facebook.com/events/473917035994779/ in Cardiff on Sunday which is another first for me and I think it’s going to be exceptionally interesting =] and for those who have no idea what Lupus is, if you’ve got a few minutes spare take a look at http://www.lupusuk.org.uk/ it’s very informal =] (I’m also contemplating starting a second blog relating to Lupus… But I will have to do a fair bit of thinking on that first).

Also I finished my Artist Statement ready for the leaflet that will be available on our exhibition night and actually got to the point where I only have two images left to finish!!!!!! I’m almost there!!! and now I’m going to leave this be and get on with my final bits of work(got to get them done for next tuesday ready to mount =/)

Ahhhh The Exhibition… We’re almost there

Well we’ve got to the point where we’ve all chosen our photos for the exhibition, which are now up on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/TheUndergraduates2013. Also we got our group artist statement done and sent off along with all the images, press release and poster design to Lynne Crompton (curator of Oriel Q) ready for publicity.

Untitled-1 It’s been a massive learning curve and we’re definitely learning as we go, but also having the chance to exhibit at OrielQ and having the guidance and support of the Lynne Crompton. Giving us a heck of a better chance when we get on and progress towards our careers as photographers and artists.

Absolutely Knackered… I don’t even think that fits the bill!

Another few busy days, haven’t even had a chance to think about this thing… =/, ah well.

Finally got most of the work done for the Creative Design Skills project, I was thrilled when a friend on facebook put me in contact with Former Kick Boxing World Champion Denzil Lawrance, who gave me the opportunity to go to his Kick Boxing class and have his students model for me, I cannot thank them enough for how accommodating, friendly and willing they were to help here’s a lil sneak at one of the shots I got Web copyThat’s one of many photos taken Tuesday night, not finished yet but its a little bit to show for my efforts =D, did I ,mention that the majority of the members hold past titles….

I also had another shoot after a venture to one of my closest friends college gallery opening(which was amazing), with Kick Boxer James Hussy who again was amazing to work with but they are far from finished yet…

Finally I’m one photo away from from getting my numbers for the exhibition work, the only thing left now, is to sew!!!! Not far off now and maybe I can have a chill day XD
